Update on U.S. Department of Transportation Connected Vehicle Pilots

On January 12, 2018, the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT) provided an update on the three Connected Vehicle Pilot Programs underway in Wyoming, New York City, and Tampa Bay. The update summarizes the progress of each connected vehicle pilot program and provides an overview of some of the issues that have surfaced, as well as lessons learned. The pilots each have unique areas of focus, with a central theme of improving safety via the utilization of vehicle to vehicle and vehicle to infrastructure technology. Wolfson Bolton is currently assisting with the Tampa Bay pilot program. A presentation on that pilot program was given by the USDOT on January 23, 2018, and a link to the update is provided below. Wolfson Bolton’s experience in the automotive industry provides us the unique ability to assist our clients in collaborating with suppliers and other constituents to provide the insight necessary to navigate this emerging field.
